I earned my Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics Education from the University of Georgia’s Mary Frances Early College of Education in 2021. Currently pursuing my Master’s Degree in Math Education at the same institution. During my time at UGA, I had the opportunity to work with students from a multitude of different learning backgrounds and mathematics levels. When we teach, we need to take into consideration the unique needs of students, including their strengths & weaknesses, prior knowledge, and motivation.

Ages I've worked with:

I have tutored students age 13 to 22 years old.

My tutoring style:

I create a tutoring environment where students are comfortable to share their thoughts/reasoning, which includes making mistakes I also tailor each tutoring session to the students’ strengths, weaknesses, and prior knowledge.

Success story:

I tutored a college student who was enrolled in Calculus I. She was overwhelmed with the material- below passing quiz grades and not understanding the lectures. When she approached her professor for help, she was told that the concepts she had trouble with were supposed to be learned far before Calculus, and that she should go back and learn- come back when ready. As I tutored her, I made sure to break down each concept to its prerequisites from earlier classes, and retaught those concepts when necessary. This was how we approached each and every topic with her. She managed to bring her grades up, learn new study strategies, and I encouraged her to move on to Calculus II at the end of the semester, in which she managed to do quite well in. This not only encouraged her to improve in her academic endeavors, but also encouraged me to want to create more success stories like this in the future.
