I have worked in the field of education as a teacher and tutor for more than 20 years. During that time, I worked as a high school math teacher for 11 years. I also worked as an assistant teacher in a special education classroom for 10 years, supporting students, ages 5-15, with multiple disabilities (cognitive, physical, emotional, behavioral). I have a bachelor's degree from Stonehill College and a master's degree from Southern Connecticut State University. I tutor math students in grades 4-12.
I bring a patient, encouraging, and often humorous approach to tutoring because I believe learning should be both effective and enjoyable. I've worked with students of all abilities and learning styles, and I tailor every session to fit each student's unique strengths and needs. I like to "think outside the box", be creative and make learning both functional and fun for my students.
When I was teaching math in the classroom, I taught a student who needed some additional help. She diligently stayed after school weekly for reviewing concepts and extra practice. Years later, after she graduated college, she came back to the high school for a visit. She found me and let me know that she became a math teacher and said that I was the one who inspired her! I was so proud of her and felt so honored!
When I'm not tutoring, you might find me solving puzzles, listening to music and singing my heart out, spending quality time with friends and family (including my dogs), or adding to my collection of monkey-themed treasures.
