Christan graduated summa cum laude from Georgia State University, with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. He also completed all but one course towards a Bachelor of Arts in World Literature at New College of Florida. Christan received his Master of Science degree in Business Economics from Georgia State University, and has done considerable Ph.D. work in Systems Science and Computational Social Science at Portland State University and George Mason University, respectively. At Portland State University, Christan taught upper-level and graduate courses in network theory and game theory. Originally starting with tutoring for the SATs and ACTs, Christan has extensive experience working with students of all ages and backgrounds on any number of math, economics, test prep and strategy, and systems science topics for over twenty years.

Tutoring Style

Christan particularly relishes teaching opportunities involving formal science constructs, such as those in most pure math sub-fields, experimental economics and game theory, and various sub-disciplines of systems science. Christan's students would probably describe him as a career student himself, a curious person who learns from the instinctive approaches his students bring to each new question or challenge they address.

Success Story

Christan enjoys working with students on math, economics, and test prep. He has helped students one-on-one and in large classrooms, both in person and online. He has helped students move from "very competitive" tier test scores to "most competitive" tier test scores.

Hobbies & Interests

When not working with students, Christan enjoys working on his research and designing a collectible card game based around the premise that strategic interplay need not be zero-sum to be fun/challenging/entertaining/fulfilling (i.e., one player doesn't have to prevent other players from achieving their objectives in order to achieve his or her own objectives). Christan's academic research on preference and agency helps him keep in mind that student goal attainment is ideally tutor goal attainment as well.
