I am a certified education professional with extensive experience supporting students and families through academic advising, enrichment, and bilingual communication. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and have worked closely with elementary - through college-aged students in Math and Science, helping them achieve long-term academic success.
My tutoring style is student-centered and grounded in active learning techniques that keep students engaged and confident. I focus on hands-on practice, guided questioning, and real-world examples to help students truly understand concepts rather than memorize them. I adapt each session to the student’s learning style and pace, reinforcing material through repetition, discussion, and application. My goal is to build strong academic skills while empowering students to take ownership of their learning.
Science:
One of my most impactful success stories comes from my work as a General Biology course assistant, helping college freshmen master the transition to rigorous college-level learning. A student in BSC 2010 came to me after scoring a 63 on their first exam—not due to lack of ability, but a lack of effective study strategies. Through intentional coaching in evidence-based study techniques and critical thinking skills, the student showed consistent improvement on Exams 2, 3, and 4 and ultimately earned a perfect score on the final. Just as importantly, these skills extended beyond biology, empowering the student to succeed across future college courses to earn their degree.
When I’m not tutoring, I enjoy staying active and continuously learning in ways that connect to my teaching. I like reading and watching content about science and education. I enjoy exploring hands-on activities that encourage curiosity and problem-solving. I also value spending time with family, which helps me stay grounded and relatable to the students and families I work with.
