I am completing my PhD in Mathematics (2025) from University of Wisconsin-Madison. I have 7 years of experience instructing and tutoring high school and college mathematics.
I am an adaptive tutor in many fields of mathematics; my primary motto is that the student must do the problem themselves. You do not learn by being provided answers. You learn by practicing problems. I am not afraid to remind students of anything they might be rusty on, so long as they are upfront about their struggles -- there is no shame in getting help!
I have many tutoring stories. One that sticks out is when I was explaining how to prove trig identities -- this was likely the student's first experience with non-two-column proofs. I attempted to show precisely how to do each step -- pick the more complicated side of the equation, use whatever trig identities spring to mind, and make it look like the less complicated side. After doing this twice, I encouraged her to do a third question on her own, and she listed me as a favorite!
Hobbies and interests include doing and making logic puzzles, improvisational comedy, various games, and various types of dancing.
