I have been a life science teacher/tutor for over 15 years with experience in public and private schools, as well as supporting remote students and home school programs. I have a bachelor's degree in biological science and a minor in anatomy and physiology. I enjoy teaching science to junior high, high school and first and second year college students.

Tutoring Style

I get excited when explaining how unique every living creature is and how all living things support each other. I use an interactive approach to determine what a student is confused about and then use relatable examples from their life to fill in their gaps in understanding. I use visuals, rhymes, acronyms and real life examples to help students understand and remember the concepts long term. Then I patiently check understanding with variations of the problem over several sessions to guarantee their understanding. I also encourage my students with organizational and study habits.

Success Story

Some of my greatest success stories are from when my students came back to visit me after their first year of college. They told stories of their success in anatomy, confidence in genetics and receiving credit for problems that most their fellow students missed. My younger high school students express gratitude for my ability to give tangible examples to abstract biology principals.

Hobbies & Interests

In my spare time I enjoy the outdoors, listening to live music and walking my dog. When the weather gets cold, I enjoy painting, coloring and watching movies by a wood burning stove.
